General description:
Silica is the fundamental ingredient of sandstone and is also found in human and
animal tissue where it is used to strengthen bones and teeth.
Part used and extraction:
Initially prepared from mountain quartz and crystal or flint, today
chemically prepared silicon dioxide is used in the remedy.
Remedy preparation:
Silicon dioxide is finely ground with lactose sugar until it is
soluble in water.
History:
Proved by Hahnemann who used quartz from the mountains.
Remedy profile:
Silica people lack emotional and physical strength. They are normally
insecure and indecisive fearing failure to the point where they tend to overwork,
which is a problem because they lack the stamina to work long hours. They
are shy and unassertive but tend to stubbornness.
They feel the cold very easily and are always the first to put on warmer
clothes. They tend to sweat a lot at night. Physically they are prone to
digestive disorders and are often profuse, smelly nervous sweaters.
