General description and domicile:
A shade loving plant that grows wild in the forests of Central and Southern
America. It is a small shrub with a tortuous root or rhizome. The roots contain
alkaloids that causes vomiting in mild doses but can be fatal in large doses.
Part used and extraction:
The roots are dug up and harvested. Thickened roots (in which a lot of
starch was stored by the plant) are regarded as the best.
Remedy preparation:
Dried roots are powdered and steeped in alcohol to obtain mother tincture

The remedy was proved by Hahnemann.

Remedy profile:
Whimsical,
Irritable and intolerant people are best suited to this remedy. When ill
they become intolerant and hard to please as they cannot make up their mind what
they want. They become depressed and sad and easy to criticize and blame others
for their problems. They do not make good patients.
The remedy is associated with chronic nausea and/or vomiting. Patients tend to
look drawn and pale, face and hands are sweaty and they feel cold on the outside
but hot on the inside.
Symptoms develop rapidly and become recurring, relief may be short lived
or for so long that it appears that the patient is getting better only to return
intensely. This intermittent pattern is particular to this remedy profile.
