General description and domicile:
Native to Britain, Europe, India, China, Russia. Asia, South Africa, North and South America (in fact it would have been easier to list where it does not grow wild) but most commonly known in Europe.
Ground hugging in marshes and bogs this little perennial (that hardly exceeds six inches) is an aquatic herbaceous plant that su
pplements its nutrition by catching insects.
The little round leaves are covered in longish hairs that have a small drop of liquid at the top end (hence the name dew plant) which increases as the sun reaches its peak (hence the name sundew). It is this intricate combination of liquid and hair that is used to trap and digest insects.

Part used and extraction:
All of the plant is used, harvested in the flowering season.
