General description and domicile:
Calcium Fluoride is a common compound found all over the planet in the
mineral Fluorite (also called fluorspar), which is mostly a violet colored
crystal (although many other colors occur) that fluoresces in sunlight, emitting
a blue light (which is where the word fluorescent comes from).
Fluorite is extensively used in the metals industry to assist in
the flow of molten metal.
Fluoride is added to drinking water to prevent tooth decay.
Calcium fluoride is present in the enamel of teeth and outer lining of skeletal
bones.
Warning: In
certain forms fluoride is a very toxic poison used as a rat poison (Sodium
Fluoroacetate), Fluorine is a very poisonous gas.
