This rather untidy evergreen bush is found in the wild Europe, Northern
America, British Isles and Asia but has been domesticated all over the
world. It has small pink flowers and produces bright red berries late in
summer. Use of this herb dates back to Medieval Europe. The entire plant
is frequently harvested but the leaves are by far the best. These are harvested
early in summer, when young, and dried before using. Do not administer to
pregnant women, nursing mothers or children.
