| Wounds Description:
A wound is any physical injury that involves the skin being ruptured. There are
many processes in the body that respond to a wound and if left alone most wounds
will heal by themselves. Severe wounds may need stitching to prevent
excessive haemorrhage an unsightly scarring - these are best treated by your
doctor or a hospital. Scratches, cuts and abrasions are easily treated at home
but do keep in mind that the body relies on the skin to keep out bacteria and
other sources of infection and when this is breached the risk of an infection is
increased.
