| Strep Throat Description:
An infection of the throat (oral pharynx and tonsils) by Strptococcus.
Strep throat is diagnosed by a soreness in the throat, swollen lymph glands in
the neck, high temperatures (fevers and chills). As there are many other viral
and bacterial infections that will give similar symptoms Strep Throat can only
be confirmed by laboratory test of the bacteria. Strep Throat can lead to
sinusitis and scarlet fever. If Strep Throat is suspected se a doctor
immediately.
