| Gallstones Description:
A gallstone is a stone (pebble-like object) formed in the biliary tract from
salts (Mostly calcium salts), cholesterol or bile pigments. These stones are
passed into the duodenum or small intestine from where they are excreted with
other waste. Gallstones only become a problem if they are not spontaneously
passed into the duodenum in which case they may cause jaundice, pain and
inflammation of the gallbladder.
