| Candida Description:
Candida Albicans is a common budding yeast like fungus normally present in the
mucous membranes of the mouth, intestines and vagina. The presence of Candida
Albicans is not an indication of a fungal infection, in fact it is an indication
of a perfectly normal and healthy person. Candidiasis is when this
perfectly normal fungus causes superficial infections of the skin. It is
characterised by a white vaginal discharge, nappy (or diaper) rash, vaginitis,
thrush. It is most commonly a vaginal infection but it can occur in any mucous
tissue and in extreme cases may attack the spleen, kidneys and liver.
