| Burns Description:
Burns are injuries caused by heat but can also be caused by some chemicals.
A First Degree burn is when the shin is sore and red but unbroken so that
there is little risk of infection. In Second Degree burns the skin is blistered
and there is dehydration and in third degree burns all the layers of the skin is
destroyed. Severity of burns are also determined by the percentage of the
body's skin that is affected. Any significant percentage can be very dangerous
so in the case of any large burn proper medical care is recommended. When
burns are severe the body's antiimmune system is affected and special care must
be taken to avoid secondary infections.
