| Bronchitis Description:
Bronchitis is caused by the spread of upper respiratory infections to the
bronchi. It often occurs as a secondary infection after viral infections such as
whooping cough, influenza, measles and sometimes even the common cold. It often
occurs during or immediately after a viral infection when the immune system is
weak. Inflammation is always present and if the inflammation persists it could
turn into chronic bronchitis, which could last for several years. Chronic
Bronchitis is often associated with smoking.
