| Bell's Palsy Description:
Bell's Palsy is the paralysis of one side of the face.
Bell's Palsy is normally the result of an injury, infection or inflammation of
the facial nerve which also includes the ear's ability to control the volume of
noise it receives. Bell's Palsy patients therefore are often sensitive to loud
noise.
The person may drool from the mouth on the affected side and be unable to close
the eye on the affected side.
Depending on the cause the condition may be permanent.
This is not a condition to be treated at home. Some of the causes of Bell's
Palsy are tumors or infections that may affect other parts of the nervous system
including the brain and spinal chord. Immediate medical attention is needed.
