| Arthritis Description:
Arthritis has become the common name for two conditions Osteoarthritis and
Rheumatoid arthritis. Although many of the solutions listed below will apply to
both conditions (especially where relief from discomfort is sought) these
solutions are almost all aimed at the treatment of Osteoarthritis.
Rheumatoid Arthritis is a condition that occurs mostly in women between ages 35
to 50. there is still doubt and debate about the cause of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Current thinking is that it follows an unspecified viral infection which causes
the immune system to turn on the cells in the lining of joints.
Osteoarthritis has to be the most common disorder in the world. at the age of 60
virtually everyone will experience some discomfort in joints as a result of this
condition. Osteoarthritis is caused by wear and tear of the joints (often
exacerbated by injuries) mostly in hands, knees, ankles and hips but it can
affect any joint. Joints become inflamed and stiff. losing their flexibility and
deforming in acute cases due to a loss of collagen from the lubricated areas in
the joints. As we grow older our bodies produce less collagen and the condition
deteriorates even more. Mild discomfort to acute pain can be experienced.
The pain is primarily caused by the inflammation of the joint.
Conventional medicine uses a variety of painkillers to combat the symptoms.
Aspirin is often recommended but there is evidence that although aspirin may
alleviate the pain and discomfort it also aids in the destruction of the tissue
of the joints.
