| Abscess Description:
A cavity containing puss and surrounded by inflamed tissue. It forms as a result
of an infection (normally staphylococcus), is painful and the inflammation is
apparent as redness in the surrounding tissue if it is close enough to the skin.
An abscess can occur anywhere in the body (e.g. kidneys, teeth).
