On these pages we offer single remedy homeopathic medicine, known as classical homeopathy. Late in the nineteenth century a group of practitioners, led by Dr. Hughes, started prescribing on pathological symptoms only. To do this they had to combine all remedies for a particular condition to make sure that the remedy will work. Later this became known as the complex school of homeopathy. Although it is recognized that there is often a need for this expediency there are many that believe that it is a short cut and that the patient would be far better off if more time was invested in more detailed examination taking into account the emotional and psychological factors and symptoms as well. Classical homeopaths (the other, more traditional school) believe that spending the time to build a detailed and complete holistic patient profile will pay off by identifying the one remedy that will be effective. In 1948 the American Institute of Homeopathy sanctioned polypharmacy or complex subscription and since then U.S. practitioners have predominantly swayed towards the complex school. T
