Although variants were evolving in different countries since the days of
Hahnemann the most profound differences occurred in the early part of the 20th
century between the "Classical" school that were prescribing prescribing high
potency single remedies and considered personality traits, emotional disposition
as well as physical symptoms in the diagnosing process, and the followers of Dr.
Hughes who relied mostly on physical symptoms for diagnoses and prescribed
complex multi-remedy cures. These variations seem to be country specific like the US, France and Germany that have almost totally gone towards complex prescriptions (called polypharmacy) while other countries favor the more traditional approach. In many countries homeopathy became intertwined with other traditional medicines like ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine where homeopathy has become a complimentary medicine to ancient practices that survived many centuries.
