Allicin: The primary source of the garlic odour is a sulfur
compound called allicin the oxide of diallyl disulfide.

Sulfur compounds: Linear molecules, very reactive,
containing sulfur substituents. Most sulfur compounds are antimicrobal and
antifungal. Some sulfur compounds assist in breaking down platelet congestion in
the blood to prevent clotting, inhibits inflammation (specifically of the
prostate gland) and there are also claims that it inhibits tumours. |
