Acetycholine

Page Summary:
In herbal, homeopathic and all other natural medicine, like in modern pharmacology, a constituent is an individual chemically defined ingredient or substance present in the herb or plant (or in the case of Homeopathy and many Eastern and Asian therapies it is extended far beyond the plant kingdom).
This page brings you all of the information that we have been able to gather on Acetycholine as well as a list of the herbs (and the rest) that contain this constituent.

Acetycholine: A neurotransmitting cholinergic formed by the interaction of Vitamin B5 with choline. Acetycholine facilitates synaptic fuction of the nervous system and transmissions to muscles. Atropine interferes and blocks this function.

Acetycholine, as essential as it may be, is constantly destroyed by an enzyme that functions as a cleaner after the neurotransmission activity of acetycholine is completed by turning it into choline and acetate. The body is therefore constantly manufacturing acetycholine.

Acetycholine is a vasodilator and cardiac depressant and stimulates the vagus nerve but is rarely used therapeutically for this purpose as it has such a short life.

Acetycholine constituent is present in:

Medicinally Significant volume

Minor volume
Acetycholine is present in small quantities which may not be enough to be a significant dosage for medicinal purposes or is not the major constituent of this plant/herb

See Choline (acetycholine is manufactured by the body)
