Her 1: Potter's Herbal Cyclopedia by Elizabeth M. Wiilamson Bsc., PhD,
MRPharmS., FLS. 1907 revised 2003. Published by The C.W. Daniel Company
Limited Covering over 700 medicinal plants this book lists herbs, their description, their names and origin, chemical constituents and pharmalogical data carefully substantiated by thousands of references to medical and scientific literature. Although Potter's also includes a section on medicinal use for each plant or herb listed, it is not recommended for use by those who use herbal remedies on themselves and their families only as there is no cross reference to symptoms or diseases and the information given on medical applications is scientific, brief and does not describe the ailments or conditions at all. It is invaluable for those that wish to research the medicinal effect and impact of a plant or herb as it contains enough information on virtually every herb covered to act as a starting point for further investigation. It is also excellent source of constituents present in the medicinal plants covered, although there is rarely any indication of how much of a particular constituent is present.
